Exhibits & Displays

SpacePort is full of hands-on exhibits and displays that bring space and aviation to life before your eyes and between your hands! You can even take a ride in one of our four simulators for a truly amazing experience.

Learn how airplane controls work in one of our wind tunnels, climb into the pilot's seat of a genuine Beaver plane and talk to your friend in air traffic control, guide models of the Sojourner Mars Microrovers the same way that NASA engineers do, get a close-up view of the International Space Station by controlling a close-up camera, assemble the International Space Station before your very eyes, find out how much you would weigh on other planets or even what you would look like as an alien, explore the night skies, control a live camera to see what is going on the airport runways, look into flight tracking systems used by Air Traffic Control, launch model rockets before your eyes, challenge yourself the airport's noise management quiz, or see how much noise there is across various parts of Calgary in real time. Younger visitors will enjoy our Keebee play area, complete with touch-screen computer activities, a PlayStation 2, Nintendo 64, and more!

Additionally, SpacePort is proud to display authentic artifacts of space history: get up close with a real moon rock, the manual to the Mir Space Station, real space food, an historic Bobby Orr hockey jersey worn in space, and even a quarter-scale test model of the Space Shuttle built and flight-tested by NASA. These artifacts can be found nowhere else in Canada, and are on long-term loan from NASA and the Canadian Space Agency. As we have no admission charge, this rare opportunity to encounter the artifacts that mark important moments of space exploration history is always free and accessible to everyone.
